Garage Project: Cereal Milk Stout

I held off reviewing this one until it was well and truly winter. Now with the fire going and snug on the couch with the TV on in the background I am finally able to enjoy this hearty breakfast inspired stout.

Garage Project should be way passed surprising me by now but they have done it again with this one. Stating that it is not only inspired by milk cereal but literally contains the ingredients I had to have a quick glance at the can to confirm that yes – these fellas did indeed put Lactose in this beer. Yup.

Creamy yet heavy – the roasted combination of cornflakes, oats and milk sugar come through in the mix of flavours that both overwhelm upon taste and calm the palate in the finish. There is a bite that likely comes from the roasted ingredients along with an underlying sweet taste that I wish came through more prominently but other than that I couldn’t complain – Stouts aren’t usually my thing and as they go, this one isn’t bad. Not the best I’ve had, but not the worst. The best characteristic to me is the milky creamy flow that provides a definitive point of difference.

Would go well with a rich meal of steak, beef stroganoff or schnitzel.
