Behemoth: Relaxing in Riwaka

A 3.7% session IPA?
Touted as all the flavour without the booze this Tasman inspired IPA features Cyro Citra, Cyro Simcoe, Motueka, Nectaron and Riwaka hops.
I love that Behemoth give the shoutout to my adopted hometown not only by name but also by flavour but I don’t love that they toned down the punch.
Sure it has ‘some’ flavour but not exactly the beautiful assault that I would expect from such a combination of special hops.
If anything – it tastes… watered down? While also kind of giving off a herb lager vibe, something I haven’t been a fan of since I first tried one at Marchfest this year.
So as much as I feel honoured by a New Zealand brand giving Tasman some love, I kind of expected a whole lot more from it.
Would go well with pretty much anything given the flavours don’t accentuate or over power the palate at all.
